Do you “Kindle”?

I downloaded the Kindle app for my iPhone today, and downloaded a few free books (mostly classics like The Picture of Dorian Gray). I don’t own a Kindle, but I think I like the thought of owning one.

So random poll here – do you own a Kindle? What do you like / dislike about it? Do you think the iPad will dethrone the Kindle? Do you think the tech on all this is still too in flux? If you were in the market for one, would you wait? I’d love to hear all your feedback. Discuss…

Jud has a Kindle. He really likes it for reading novels which he doesn’t do very often. But he really didn’t like reading his non-fiction books that he uses for sermons and stuff. I’ve read a couple of books on it and like it. But it didn’t replace holding a real book for me but I bet I could get used to it.

I’m of course very interested in the ipad. We will see if it wears the eyes out though. The kindle doesn’t. That is one of the very cool things about it.

Hey Lori, thanks for the visit :)

Yeah, I was wondering about the whole feel of not holding a book, although I do use Youversion on my iPhone for some Bible reading and I’ve gotten used to that. I’m curious about the iPad too.

    Mike,
I have a Kindle and I love it. I have my Bible on it. I am even reading the One Year Bible on it. If I have a complaint, it’s that the screen isn’t backlit. But since I don’t read in the dark, it hasn’t really been an issue for me. The storage capacity is unbelievable. Next for me is to get my newspaper subscription on it. The iPad is very cool looking in that the screen is color. But the Kindle is much less expensive and there is a ton of content for it.
